NINTENDO DS Games Being Ported To The WII U Virtual Console?

Nintendo has announced that they are wanting to bring DS games to their Virtual Console onto the Wii U. They posted a picture of Brain Age on the Wii U tablet on the Japanese version of their website. Nintendo has many games on their Virtual Console so it would be a good idea to bring DS games there as well. This is an amazing idea that might help the Wii U sell more consoles, but it does raise a couple of questions, due to the fact we only know what they have said, and by the picture they put out.

Nintendo has stated that “We will in the Nintendo DS that features a touch screen and two screens... ” which raises the question, is this only going to be available for the Wii U Virtual Console, or are you going to be able to make one of the screen appear on the TV. Also, what is going to happen with games that require screens to be stacked? Are you going to be able to turn the virtual console sideways or are they just not going to implement that? Nintendo went on to say that they have a very good lineup of games for the virtual console, that is hopefully coming soon, so we don't have to worry about the lack of DS games on the Wii U!

For fans of both the Wii U and the DS, this prospect is great news. Imagine, having your Pokemon team in front of you on the game pad, with an epic battle happening on your 35 inch screen. Or even your inventory on your lap, while you're saving Hyrule on the television. Mario Kart, the game known for destroying friendships, could become even more destructive with the implementation of the game pad, and personally, it would be one of the most intense gaming experiences since the discovery of split screen co-op. The possibilities for this are nearly endless!

Cool Concept

Don’t need a DS
Don’t have to find physical copies of games

Might play on the TV

We know little about it

Might not work on the TV

Games might not be polished

Screens won’t stack
